The Hitters
Babe Ruth again has the top seed for the round and will face strengthening competition as the cream continues to rise. Andrew McCutchen, Bobby Bonds, and Hall-of-Fame of Famers Al Kaline and Johnny Bench have all qualified in each of their appearances in the tournament. They will be joined by Jim Wynn, Dom DiMaggio, and Mike Mitchell, who made their way here through the elimination rounds.
As has been the case thus far, the top 4 finishers and anyone who finishes above .500 for the 154-game season will move on automatically to Round 9. The others will have a “last chance” in the Round 8 elimination round.

The Results
I guess by this point, it is no surprise that Ruth is truly a dominating presence; he may not get any real competition until he faces the other top seeds, like Willie Mays, Lou Gehrig, and Ted Williams. And he had no real trouble with this group, leading all teams in Runs, Hits, Home Runs, and Batting Average. Not surprisingly, given the lopsided nature of the scoring, Ruth’s pitchers also led in ERA. He will be joined by Andrew McCutchen, Al Kaline, and, tying for fourth place, Jimmy Wynn, and Bobby Bonds in Round 9.
It’s off to the Round 8 Elimination Round for Mitchell, Bench, and Dom DiMaggio.
Season Highlights
- Ruth91 and Ruth6 battled to the end for the Triple Crown! Ruth91 took the batting title with a .306 average to Ruth6’s .304 (Kaline8 snuck in between them at .305). Ruth6 led in home runs with 65 to Ruth91s 64, and RBIs with 159 to 155.
- Babe Ruth finished third in homers with 61. All told, various Ruths took one through nine in the home run race. Jim Wynn finished tenth with 33.
- Once again, thanks to ample run support, Ruth’s pitching staff had some gaudy stats: Pete Alexander led with a 33-2 record and was joined by Hal Newhouser8 (21-2) and Charlie Hough8 (20-3) with Bob Friend8 rounding out the staff with an 18-7 record.
- The Ruth team scored 10+ runs 42 times, including a 28-6 shellacking of Jimmy Wynn and a 20-0 shutout of Andrew McCutchen.
- Ruth91 had a 4 homer game and 4 other games with 3 HRs. Total, there were 10 Ruth 3-HR games, including two of them in that 28-6 game. Bench6 also had a 3-Homerun game.
- Jim Wynn had a 5K game.
- Ruth6 had 9 RBIs to go along with his 3 homers.
- Bobby Bonds and Ruth8 all had 7 RBI games, with Ruth91 doing it SEVEN times!
