Round 5 Season 6

Ty Cobb Featured card for Baseballs Greatest Player Playoff

The Hitters

Tournament #1 seed Ty Cobb is the only Hall-of-Famer and the true class of this league. As he has dominated in each of his previous appearances, I anticipate he will do the same here. Ready to give him a battle are Dolph Camilli, La Grande Orange Rusty Staub, power hitters Norm Cash, Bill Nicholson, Scott Rolen, and Luis Gonzalez, along with star of the 1890s, Cupid Childs. As always, top 4 to advance automatically.

The Results

As predicted, Ty Cobb ruled the roost, using superior average and superior speed in besting Dolph Camilli by 24 games. Norm Cash powered his way to third place, with Nicholson and Staub tying for fourth. The other 3 head to Round 6 for a last ditch effort to remain in the tournament.
