The Results

Pedro Guererro and Joe Morgan played well all season, but Guererro was just a bit better, hanging on for the pennant. Ken Boyer had a disastrous June and went 1-6 in September, otherwise he would have been in the top slot. Don Buford continued his Cinderella story: he was a mistaken entry in the tournament and has done exceptionally well. He joins the other three top finishers in Round 7. Cedeno, Konetchy, Donaldson, and Martinez head to Round 6.

Season Highlights

  • Pedro Guererro led all teams in batting average. His .293 was 21 points ahead of second-place Cedeno and nearly 30 points above the league average. Guererro7 led the individual batters with a .322 average.
  • Guererro led the league with 33 homers, Guererro7 tying for second with 28 and missing out on the Triple Crown, as he also led in RBIs with 106.
  • Boyer99 had a 6 for 6 day at the plate, with a double, triple, and 3 RBIs.
  • Joe Morgan had a 3-HR game.
  • Guererro7 had a 7-RBI game.

No-Hitters

4/19 Walter Johnson6 threw a perfect game as the Ken Boyer squad defeated Cesar Cedeno, 9-0. Johnson struck out 7 in the gem.
