Round 5 Season 29

Stan Musial Featured

The Hitters

Stan “The Man” Musial is the only Hall-of-Famer in this season, the top seed, and the clear favorite to win it all. He’s already had two 100+ win seasons but Gavvy Cravath is ready to give battle. Also in the hunt are a fairly modern mix including Augie Galan, Will Clark, Freddie Freeman, Keith Hernandez, Ron Cey, and Carlos Delgado. Who will move forward to Round 7? 154 games will tell the tale.

The Results

Gavvy Cravath got off to a slow start and had to chase Stan Musial the whole season but he didn’t quite have enough in the tank as Musial held him off. Not far back was Will Clark with Carlos Delgado surprising from the #8 slot with a .500 record. Galan, Cey, Hernandez, and Freeman failed to qualify for Round 7. They will get a chance in Round 6.

Season Highlights

  • Cravath4 led individual hitters with a robust .352, 31 points ahead of second place Will Clark5.
  • Carlos Delgado3 led in home runs with 34.
  • Musial8 had a 22-game hitting streak.
  • Musial5 had quite a day in an early April game, going 4 for 4 with a double, 2 homers, and 8 RBI as Musial defeated Delgado 13-4.
  • Cey4 had a 7-RBI game
