Round 5 Season 25

Mel Ott Featured

The Hitters

Mel Ott is a Hall-of-Famer, top seed in this season, and someone on my shortlist with the potential to make it to the Top 25. This go-round he will have to contend with a mixed bag of competitors including George Stone, HOFers Joe Torre and Ryne Sandberg, Buster Posey, Paul O’Neill, Jake Daubert, and Jacoby Ellsbury. A .500 record or a top 4 finish will secure a slot in Round 7.

The Results

George Stone was in it until the end but Mel Ott hung tough to take the flag. Ott’s power overcame the solid hitting of Stone, while Torre and Posey also hit well and tied for third in the league. They all head to Round 7. Ellsbury, Sandberg, Daubert, and O’Neill try their luck in Round 6.

Season Highlights

  • Stone2 led the league with a .323 average.
  • Ott99 led in home runs with 37, with the Ott team swatting 295 on the season.
  • Ott7 and O’Neill8 had 3-HR games.
