The Results

Power was the name of the game as Willie McCovey held off a surging Ralph Kiner to take the pennant. Top seed Elmer flick finished a respectable third and Hub Collins won his last two games to nail down a .500 record. Madlock hit well but it wasn’t enough and Vince Coleman proved the old adage that “you can’t steal first.” They and Bonura and Cronin head to Round 6 for a second chance at Round 7.
